I was hoping Nolan and Co. would learn from their mistakes on Batman Begins (a movie I would give a C-).  However, casting Ledger as the Joker leads me to believe they haven't.

Paraphrasing a classic cliche, one person's mistake is another person's masterpiece

... not mine though, as I gave Batman Begins four-out-of-five stars. Very Good but not Excellent and sadly not enough to wash the fecal tastes of Joel Schumacher out of my proverbial mouth. I'll keep my fingers crossed for this new Joker though. You know what they say; don't knock it till you've tried it!  :teddyr:

Nobody will beat Jack Nicholson.

Btw, you might want to change the title of this thread to something relevant to it's content to get people's attention.

For me, nothing beats the television series "Batman" with Cesar Romero as The Joker.

"Who are you?"
"I'm Cesar Chavez."
"Why do you look like Cesar Romero?"
"Because you don't know what Cesar Chavez looks like."

Snivelly

I'm not sure how Ledger will do either, I don't dislike him as an actor but he wouldn't have been my first choice either.  I really enjoyed Batman Begins, I thought it was a great way to breathe some life into what was quickly becoming a bad series.

I did prefer Nicholson's Joker to any others, but I have a soft spot for old Jack.

Actually, I think I read somewhere that The Man Who Laughs was actually Kane's inspiration for the Joker.

Indeed it was. DC actually put out a very good one-shot a year or two ago about the Joker's origins titled "<u>The Man Who Laughs</u>" acknowledging the movie's influence on Mr. Kane.
