ALIEN CONTAMINATION (1980) a.k.a Contamination - Written and Directed by the same person who brought us STARCRASH (1979) that is Luigi Cozzi. The Italian film starts out with aerial shots of New York City like many of our Italian films. They seem to like New York City. Anyway this is a Sci-Fi film about alien eggs from Mars. The eggs explode and when they get on you then you also explode. The only major draw back of this film is the government investigator who goes to Latin America to figure this thing out. I never like films that have detectives or investigations. It just bores me. The rest of the film isn't bad and a lot of fun. It turns out that a former astronaut Coffee magnate who has a plantation in South America is also harvesting alien eggs. There is a great scene near the end when one of her assistants is sucked up by a one eyed alien in the incubation area of the factory. The armed workers dress up like they do in THE CRAZIES with white suits and gas mask. Oh, and don't let me forget the exploding torsos. Part of my Mills Creek 50 Pack: Nightmare Worlds.

 (6 out of 10 Stars) There's some fun here for sure.

The DVD release of this cleared up a lot of the quality problems I had with the VHS I'd owned for years.  It also was not cut like the VHS.  The resulting movie (on DVD) is much better than the one I reviewed so many years ago from my VHS.  However, you have to agree that the killer avocados are pretty funny.  Just seeing people erupt into rupturing blood bags after being touched by the alien fluid is a riot.

Ok, you have it under it's alternate title. Some of the dialogue was also pretty funny.

Raffine

I first saw this many years ago on Elvira's early 80's series Movie Macabre (anybody else remember this MST3K ancestor?).  I recently rewatched it and am happy to say it still gave me a laugh. I particularly like the way the killer avacodos wheeze and moan like they have asthma.

It does drag a bit, but that one-eyed psychic creech-ture at the end is well worth the wait. It's like a slimier, slightly uglier version of 'Beluah' from Corman's  IT CONQUERED THE WORLD, or maybe a relative of The Simpson's Kang and Kodos.

If you're an Andy Milligan fan there's no hope for you.
