I found this fabulous Ed Wood collection for rent at our local Hastings - it includes GLEN OR GLENDA, BRIDE OF THE MONSTER, PLAN 9 FROM OUTER SPACE, THE VIOLENT YEARS, JAIL BAIT, and NIGHT OF THE GHOULS in a two DVD set, plus a documentary called THE ED WOOD STORY.  My problem is I only have it till Thursday and I don't have time to watch them all.  I know I want to see PLAN 9 again - my wife has never seen it.
Which other is the BEST example of Ed Wood's marvelously awful work?  If I'm only going to pick one or two others, which should they be?

I'd go with Glen or Glenda and Night of the Ghouls, but that's just me. :teddyr:

The FDA has been looking for a generic name for Viagra. After careful consideration by a team of government experts, it recently announced that it has settled on the generic name of Mycoxafloppin. Also considered were Mycoxafailin, Mydixadrupin, Mydixarizin, Dixafix, and of course, Ibepokin.

What do you mean you don't have time to watch them all, what do you do ... sleep?

I guess GLEN OR GLENDA I haven't seen NIGHT OF THE GHOULS in over 20 years so I don't remember it.

Well-you watched BRIDE of the MONTER-your life is now full. You never have to do anything else. You have reached Nirvana.

I say rent it again and watch the whole set.  If you can find it you should also watch ORGY OF THE DEAD.

I recommend NIGHT OF THE GHOULS.  I have a copy of THE VIOLENT YEARS on a DVD from Something Weird.  That one is very entertaining too, but Ed Wood didn't direct it.  He just wrote it.

I say make your very own BRIDE OF THE MONSTER bored game; first level- find Harvey B Dunn's missing finger in a scavenger hunt... on Varnoff's property.

I just recently bought this same set from a Half Price Books store. Bride of the Monster was the first one I watched, and I enjoyed its cheesiness tremendously. Then The Violent Years. It was both funny and painful (I was ready to beg for the death penalty rather than listen to the judge's lecture on morality). To me, Glen or Glenda is just painful to watch; it didn't entertain me. It was just sad that Wood was trying so hard to prove how "normal" transvestites are while failing so miserably at it. I'd personally recommend Night of the Ghouls or Plan 9.

Which company has the most superior version of Plan 9 From Outer Space on the market at the moment?

...or you could make your own BRIDE OF THE MONSTER video game- with new bonus levels like Whip Tor for power-ups. (cheat code BELA)

I have the Image DVD and it is very good quality.  The screenshots in my review were taken from my Image DVD.

There is a DVD out by a company called "Genius" that apparently has both the B&W and a color version that is supposed to be good.
