Ok sorry for this post as its going to be a bit confusing :)

Years ago when i was just a kid i watched both the original and remake of a b-movie that was in the style of 'Invasion of the body snatchers'.

Unfortunately i can only remember some scenes and i cant remember which scene was from the original or the remake!

The name of both or either (if they differed in name) would be great.

OK here are the scenes i remember:

Kid is asleep in bedroom and hears the spaceship land. He has a coin collection in a jar on his bedside table which vibrates as the sheep lands and wakes him. (remake i think). - this may well have been the last scene from the remake.

The aliens seem to boar into the back of peoples necks with a drill like bit that sticks out (remake)

The alien ship is underground in a desert type area (either?)

The kid tells his parents  and somehow they go see a professor about something or other. while discussing this the professor shows the kid  model alien spaceships to see what shape it was. One model is what i can only describe as a big dustbin lid painted neon green (original for sure).

The original i think was from the 50's and in colour. The remake from the 80's.

Ive wanted to re-watch both films for ages, but i could never remember their names. Ive searched countless b-movie lists but never seem to find either film.

Thanks in advance for any help. Oh and Hello :)
