Ah, Dr. Mullins.  I remember Dr. Mullins!   I went to med school at OHSU, and Dr. Mullins did the trauma rounds in the AM, raking the surgery residents over the coals.

he has a dry, laconic style of presentation, and a classic "these people are so f**king stupid" kind of storytelling mode.

That man's story is going to be the meat of trauma rounds for at least another decade, from Dr. Mullins, and for all of the residents he encounters, ever.  If you ever attend such rounds you hear stories like that one, constantly.  Ie, this example (which is real, from my ob/gyn rotation, in which trauma surgeons were involved):

"This patient has been in the hospital for two months, and she's now at 28 weeks of gestation.  Her abdominal wound is being allowed to close by secondary intention.  She took a shotgun blast to her abdomen, which, miraculously, missed her uterus and most major vessels, because she lives in a crack house.  She was out walking in the back one night, and her dad, who was high on crack, thought she was a trespasser and opened fire on her.  The baby appears to be unharmed.  There's an OB and a trauma team standing by in case she goes into premature labor, but so far, she hasn't."
