This film gave Raymond Massey one of his best roles, but after his performance in the stage play, I always regreted that Boris Karloff wasn't able to appear in the film, also. Especially as he would have appeared opposite Peter Lorre.

Though both Karloff and Lorre would appear opposite each other in "The Boogie Man Will Get You," "Comedy of Terrors," "The Raven," and "You'll Find Out."

John Alexander would go on to play Teddy Roosevelt again. This time in the remake "Ruggles of Red Gap," "Fancy Pants," w/ Bob Hope and Lucille Ball.
