Here's an interesting bit of news about the live action Star Wars TV series.    http://hollywoodinsider.ew.com/2007/10/star-wars-the-s.html

Lucas has always said the show would feature lesser characters that had appeared in the movies and that it would take place between Eps. 3 & 4.

And you thought Trek isn't cool.

George Lucas plans `Star Wars' TV series
George Lucas is planning a live-action television series spinoff of the "Star Wars" film franchise.

Lucas told The Los Angeles Times he has "just begun work" on the series, which will not include the films' major characters Luke Skywalker or Darth Vader.

Here's the whole story:

I'm combining this one with the one I had started already.

Me too.

George Lucas has become this abusive boyfriend to nerdy fanboys everywhere.  That sweet honeymoon period of Episodes 4-6 were so awesome.  We had such great times, didn't we?  Everything he did back then meant so much.  Then he went quiet for a real long time.  We started to sour on George.  It just wasn't the same.  Why didn't he give us the kind of love we had back then?  Why wouldn't he give us anything?

But then he did.  Remember?  Episode 1.  Remember that trailer?  Remember how the internet broke because everyone on planet earth was downloading it at the same time.  Remember how completely awesome it looked and all those sweet George Lucas promises that we would have more Star Wars?  Remember what we got?  It was like a punch in the stomach.  George had turned on us.

But then he gave us another trailer!  He promised he wouldn't hit us anymore.  "Look!  It's Boba Fett!  You love Boba Fett!" He said.

But when the movie came out, it was like we were being beaten up all over again.  He lied!

But then he told us he wouldn't hit us anymore and begged for us to give him another chance.  He offered us a sweet trailer and the promise of Darth Vader.  But the movie was another punch in the face.

After that I swore off Star Wars.  I'll always have those sweet early years that meant so much but never again will I let George Lucas beat me up.  I'm a stronger person now.

Yet here we are again.  George says, "Hey!  It's a TV show!  And it takes place during the beginnings of the rebellion.  That's, like, your favorite part of the story!"

And here I am, getting excited again.  See?  George said he wouldn't hit me anymore.  I think he really means it this time.

Right, guys?

You get a karma for that.

Yay, more prequel material, because filling in the backstory worked so well in Eps. 1-3. Minor characters, so now we get all the exciting and sordid details of the Antilles family?

But if it's set in between the two trilogies, then we know the good guys can never win outright, since we know what has to happen before and after the time of the series. Can Lucas ever tell a story now where we don't have some idea of how things turn out?

I'm ashamed I have even that much residual geekiness left.....
blah blah stuff blah blah obscure pop culture reference blah blah clever turn of phrase blah blah bad pun blah blah bad link blah blah zzzz.....
