THE BRAIN EATERS (1958) - AMC showed this one this morning. It's an AIP production that is similar to INVASION OF THE BODY SNATCHERS (1956) and SHIVERS (1975), but rather in the low budget category like ZONTAR: The Thing From Venus (1966). It's not a bad little Sci-Fi/Horror film the creatures don't come from another planet, but are found during paleolithic diggings. These things attach themselves to the back of humans necks. There was also this scientist in a burrowing machine at the end with long grey beard shrouded in mist and surrounded by these creatures.

(5 out of 10 Stars)  Check it out if you get the chance.

A bald man named Savalas visited me last night in a dream.  I think it was a Telly vision.

This is the first film version of Heinlein's "The Puppet Masters" and he sued the makers of "The Brain Eaters."  The movie was hampered by its budget, but you can easily see the Heinlein story inside of the script.  I have an old VHS of this one, which is moderately worn, but I am glad that I've seen it.  Some parts do a decent job of projecting the paranoia and helplessness in the face of the invasive invaders.  Still, I remember the final battle being very lame.

Yep, there were some rough scenes in this film. The lady in the evening gown on the scaffold was funny. :bouncegiggle:

Still worth a good look. Great sounding title.

I haven't seen this one in years but I had it on VHS way back when. From what I remember about it, the ending was a real let down.

I have never seen this one, but managed to record it this morning. Maybe this weekend I'll get a chance to  watch it...along with about 4 other movies I've taped that need watching.

The FDA has been looking for a generic name for Viagra. After careful consideration by a team of government experts, it recently announced that it has settled on the generic name of Mycoxafloppin. Also considered were Mycoxafailin, Mydixadrupin, Mydixarizin, Dixafix, and of course, Ibepokin.

Shadow, this film runs at only 60 minutes.

Shadow

I got about 30 minutes into it last night before midnight rolled around and I had to shut it off in order to sleep. Tonight I'll see if I can finish it.

How about when they are shooting the hand gun. What are they aiming at?

Shadow

What I laughed at was how quickly the cops shot the mayor when he tried to escape. I mean, he was THE MAYOR! They had no idea he was controlled by some parasite nor could they have known about any wrong doing on his part. He just decided to run and POW!! They gunned him down without a warning, without a word and without a seconds hesitation. Funny as hell! :teddyr:

It's a great piece of cinema.  :bouncegiggle:

It must be a rare hard to find film because nobody on the internet has any images or video up for me to show more. Found some movie posters.

glenn danzigs late 70's, early 80's band the Misfits had a song named after this.  They had a lot of songs from b movies like "return of the Fly" even "green hell"  covered by metallica i believe.

it's a great song with a chant along vocal "brains for dinner, brains for lunch"
