Just saw this turkey last night for Thanksgiving at the Alamo Drafthouse Ritz in Austin, Texas. They procured a 35mm print of it and screened it to a packed house, for FREE. I've been around movies a long time and I've come to understand what makes a bad movie bad, and I must say as I put my reputation as a lover of bad films on the line, that this movie is the worst movie, outside of home movies, that has ever been made. Like Plan Nine From Outer Space, based on technical filmmaking skills this film is just the pits. Shaky footage, consistently out of focus shots, terrible audio problems, horrible acting, low lighting, bad cosutmes and special effects, oh it just goes on and on. Seeing it on the big screen as an actual print of the film gave me a unique perspective. I saw how across edits there were all kinds of drops in audio. For example music just quit and dialogue simply ended as they cut to a different shot. The edits would sometimes cut between a grooving party with its own set of audio problems to something in another room with completely different audio and audio problems. Looped sounds like a turkey gobble or a woman screaming were used over and over and over again to the point where the audience couldn't stop laughing. Some shots in the film were framed so that absolutely none of it was in focus. Not even for a second. And the camera would zoom in and out and in, while out of focus, on people's faces or hands or whatever. Somehow the person shooting it never considered showing anything important. And spacial relations between characters based on editing was so hard to understand I found myself asking aloud several times "where are these people?"

And yet, like Plan Nine, this film is so enjoyable to watch. Everything about it was so poorly done and without a single shred of knowledge of filmmaking, that it cobbles together into an enjoyable spectacle of how not to make a movie. I used to think Herschell Gordon Lewis' BLOOD FEAST was the epitome of that claim, but after watching Blood Freak, I can say without a doubt that this is the worst. Do yourselves a favor and get a copy of this, a bunch of friends and some drinks, and you'll laugh more than a George Carlin concert.

GOBBLE GOBBLE!  Thought that this film was a bore for the most part but there are a couple of highly hilarious scenes in it.
