Killer Bees

Hi Everyone,

I'm a new poster to this site.  I've been looking around and think it's pretty awesome.

Anyway, I remembered today that I saw a William Shatner movie ages ago called Kingdom of the Spiders.  Has anyone seen this movie? It's definitely in the B movie realm.

I don't remember much about it except that I goggled at the thought of how the heck did the producers manage to get their hands on so many huge tarantulas?  I thought the spiders' acting was a little lame though.  It seemed like they didn't know where they were supposed to go and there was a crew member off camera shooing them to the correct place  *lol*

I like William Shatner as an actor and wondered what possessed him to take part in the this movie.

I also secretly applauded the fact that he wasn't scared to have all those huge creatures climbing all over him.  I was in near apoplectic fits just watching him.  (I have a phobia about spiders).
Flower, gleam and glow
Let your power shine
Make the clock reverse
Bring back what once was mine
Heal what has been hurt
Change the fates' design
Save what has been lost
Bring back what once was mine
What once was mine.......

Welcome aboard, Killer Bees!

(Everyone's nickname often makes us say strange things.  It's like Madlibs for forums.

"Kingdom of the Spiders" scared me to death as a kid.  Now I watch it and am pretty sure I could take on the spider army.  Give me a fully fueled road roller and some combat boots and I'm ready to go.  An assistant with a flamethrower would be nice too.

Going off of memory, the acting was pretty middle of the road.  Nobody was really putting their all into it, but then the spider army gets going the film gains some steam.  I love it once the town is overrun and all heck breaks loose!

And isn't there a scene where somebody opens a vent in the ceiling and a bucket of tarantulas pour onto them?  That would suck no matter what.  Getting snow, sand, or leaves down the back of your shirt is one thing, but tarantulas is quite another.

I own a video of it...It would make a great double bill with EMPIRE of the ANTS-(with another TV favorite...Joan Collins!)
Supernatural?...perhaps. Baloney?...Perhaps not!" Bela Lugosi-the BLACK CAT (1934)

Lugosi-"No. Dracula-never ends."

Shatner's career has been a very strange one.  He's lucky that Captain Kirk strongly overshadows his acting mis-steps.  If you can find it and are up for a real challenge, you need to see White Comanche wherein Shatner plays twin indian brothers, one good, the other evil.

He also did one with Roger Corman called The Intruder (aka I Hate Your Guts!) where he plays a racist drifter going around the south inciting people against racial integration.  It's a cheapie but it's also quite good.
