John Carradine invents a new kind of diving bell and sends a team of two men and two women to explore the depths in it. The cable breaks and when they start to run out of air they put on their scuba gear and try to head to the surface (they're only 1700ft down).  They discover a network of air filled tunnels and an old man that's been trapped there for 14 years .

Basically nothing happens in this movie and you will likely be petrified by the end of it if you stay awake that long.  The two most entertaining parts were the diving bell itself and Phyllis Coates.

The diving bell must've actually been a TARDIS  seeing that is was about 5 times bigger on the inside that it was on the outside.

Phyllis Coates, the original Lois Lane on the Adventures of Superman,  is mildly entertaining as a b***hy, romantically jilted news reporter , especially when the old hermit starts coming on to her.

Watch this movie only if you have an extra hour and ten minutes of your life you don't mind wasting.

And you thought Trek isn't cool.

You know...I actually LIKE this kinda boring drek...for no other reason then  I am one of those people who need some kind of dull TV going on in the backround to put me to sleep...and mindless old sci-fi is a good remedy!

Yes, but this one is more than mindless - it is incredibly boring.  Trekgeezer's description is probably more interesting than the film and he is trying to get across the point that nothing happens.  It's sole redeeming factor is that it is only about 70 minutes long, because they didn't make bad movies that were 2 hours+ back then.

And when he shall die
Take him and cut him into little stars,
And he will make the face of heaven so fine
That all the world will be in love with night,
And pay no worship to the garish sun.
