Anyone pick this up? It's all of the new G dvds by Classic Media plus Godzilla's Revenge and Terror of Mechagodzilla. I'm thinking of asking for it for Christmas, even though it will technically be a dreaded double-dip.

Oh my god, this is great! I own some of the movies in this set, but most of them are the "americanized" versions, and I've been more than eager to get my hands on the Original versions :teddyr: Thanks for informing about this joyous event, I could have never found out about it on my own

No problem. I only stumbled onto it by accident myself.

Yes this is a great DVD set. The only problem is they released the first five movies one at a time ( which I bought each one ) and now the last two movies...Godzilla`s Revenge & Terror of MechaGodzilla are only available in this set. So now what do I do???  Buy five movies again just to get the last two? I can only hope someday they will sell Terror of MechaGodilla as a single DVD ( I can live without Godzilla`s Revenge ).

The two new ones will be released on their own early next year.

Classic Media is also releasing Rodan and War of the Gargantuas next year.  I'm tempted to get this box set 'cause I've only got the Gojira/Godzilla DVD.

Ironic isn't it? The WORST Godzilla movie was that American one with Broderick.Shame too seeing as Broderick is so talented--but really--in trying to improve it they really screwed it up. I hated the look of the new Godzilla--was I alone? I mean to me it looked like nothing more than an oversized T-Rex, whereas the old Godzilla looked like a n actual monster---and the new film lacked cheesiness--sure the original was never meant to be cheesy but it eventually became a beloved part of Godzilla that made him so popular with everyone.

One of the worst things though was the isn't male or female part. It really served no purpose and the baby Zilla's were lame.

Broderick is talented???  You coulda' fooled me.  I guess he's just too modest to unleash all that hidden talent upon the world!   I have heard that the American Godzilla movie is actually based on The Beast From 20,000 Fathoms.  I don't know why they decided to call the monster "Godzilla,"  but the movie would suck no matter what they called it.

I'd definitely consider it a remake of "The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms."  I have a half-written review and I mention the very same thing.  The review also mentions that "Deanzilla" would have been better if Broderick and his girlfriend got squished early on and the entire "baby Godzillas" raptor rip-off scene was dropped.

Ferris Bueller's Day Off is proof he is talented. Wargames wasn't bad either--he's had a few movies that are okay, or bad but if you want to see a GREAT Broderick flick see Ferris Bueller--the movie not the horrible tv series.

I actually liked the version with Broderick.  But I think Jean Reno absolutely made that movie.  Without him it would be nothing.

I've seen some of the original Godizlla movies but I never looked at the Broderick one as a continuation of those.  I took it on its own merits and loved it.

My local music store is selling the original Godzilla movies (not sure if they are dubbed or just subtitled) and I've been seriously thinking about getting them for my collection.
Flower, gleam and glow
Let your power shine
Make the clock reverse
Bring back what once was mine
Heal what has been hurt
Change the fates' design
Save what has been lost
Bring back what once was mine
What once was mine.......

Finally! I've been waiting for Rodan since, like, forever.

Ironic that people say that, considering the original Gojira was, to the best of my knowledge, inspired by The Beast From 20,000 Fathoms. Beast predates Gojira, anyway.

Oh, and in the 1998 Godzilla they never say Godzilla "isn't male or female." It's a he, without a doubt, just "a very unusual he," as Nick (Broderick's character) puts it.
