Yaddo 42

I played several of these, and owned a few.

I bought Carmageddon 2, it came with a copy of the first game (which I never could get to play anyway). I loved C2, played it 12 hours straight my first off day after I bought it, really bad idea actually. Played it for so long I had to turn the music off when I played it after that, could hear those Iron Maiden songs or the samples of Iggy Pop tunes uses in other songs one more time. Bought most of the cars to see how the all drove, found out how to combine powerup icons (for good and bad effect), would build up so much time running down people I'd have an hour to explore a playing field. Ran down so many that the game seemed to not want to regenrate new ones. I figured out how to use the recovery button to wind up behind the other racers at the beginning of a race, and even land on top of them, doing damage before the race started. Loved to ram another racer into one of the race barriers and split the car in two. The last level on the aircraft carrier, took forever to beat since you had to have the right vehicle with a combo of speed and weight to do the damage needed for the objectives and then kill the admiral in the conning tower.

I later bought C3, sucked big time, no fun and you couldn't build up enough time to explore or just go on pointless money gathering rampages. Plus, in later levels, it was a little too advanced, even with the graphics toned down, for my aging and buggy computer.

Jason, you may have played Thrill Kill the way I did, on a PS1 that had been modded to play copies of the Japanese PS1 games, where the game apparently did get released. I played it at the local comic shop, we all liked it for about a half hour until the novelty of the "shocking" premise wore off. But we thought the guy in the straight jacket who would bite was cool, The dominatrix-type girl who moaned when she was injured or died was funny, people played her just to lose.
