A CHRISTMAS CAROL (Patrick Stewart version)

I'd caught bits and pieces of this one before, but watched the whole thing on TNT this morning. I think it is one of the best renditions of Dickens' classic tale I've ever seen, and Stewart is perfect as Scrooge! All the characters are very strong, and the old tale comes across with all its original punch. My only issue with the movie is that the Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come looked like a Jawa on steroids . . . .

I've never seen this one before, but I think Stewart could be good in this role. My favorite though is the George C. Scott version. It's pretty faithful to the book and Scott is a damn good actor!

Durn skippy he is!! I saw him live onstage doing the monologue play "Clarence Darrow for the Defense". It was INCREDIBLE!! (And we had second row seats!)

I never seen his performance live(It'd be a little hard too now since he's dead). But every time hes on screen he always gave a stellar performance. I sure it was one heck of a show though!
Unfortunately, like a lot of the actors I like, He was a little before my time.

I think I either saw it on TV once before or they showed it to me in either middle or high school once before. I found it to be interesting to say the least. Patrick Stewart really did a good job as Scrooge and he didn't do anything over the top at all, which really suprised me.

This is one version I haven't seen yet, but I'm pretty confident in Stewart's acting abilities, especially when it comes to this type of material. Might have to make a point of renting it next year.

Still, when it comes to Scrooge, it's got to be Alastair Sim for me. That version of A Christmas Carol was a family tradition when I was a kid, and it's still the one I measure all others against.

Having watched both the Sim and the Stewart versions last year, I think they run about neck and neck for quality. Each includes some bits from the original that the other skips. (I've yet to see the Scott version -- gotta plan ahead next year.)
