This DVD is included in a Ray Dennis Steckler boxed set I bought yesterday.  The other movies in this set are LAS VEGAS SERIAL KILLER, BLOOD SHACK, and BODY FEVER.  There is also another boxed set available, but I already have the movies in it.

THE HOLLYWOOD STRANGLER MEETS THE SKID ROW SLASHER is one of the simplest movies you will ever see.  It consists almost exclusively of alternating scenes as follows:

* First we see the strangler killing a victim (always a topless "photographer's model" [aka prostitute]);
* Then we see the slasher killing a victim (always a homeless drunk);

* Then we see the strangler killing a victim;
* Then we see the slasher killing a victim . . . and so on . . .

Basically, that's it!

Steckler filmed this movie with no sound.  However, his distributor insisted that he dub in voiceovers and minimal dialogue.  Some of his other movies used this same technique.

Carolyn Brandt (Steckler's ex wife) plays the slasher and Pierre Augustino (Steckler pronounces his name "Augustini") plays the strangler.

The special features section includes interviews with Steckler and Carolyn Brandt and they tell some interesting stories about Pierre Augustino (he was working as a house painter when Steckler met him) and the movie in general.  It also includes an introduction by Joe Bob Briggs as well as two commentary tracks: one by Briggs and one by Steckler.  If you're a Steckler fan, you may appreciate this flick.  If you are not a Steckler fan, it will probably put you to sleep.
