this is the type of movie that is often vaguely described in the "what was that film?" section and not solved.  If you rememeber "a horror movie with a young priest who carries a big metal cross with him everywhere", this is it!!  It wants to be atmospheric horror like "The Omen" or "Exorcist"  but it has no atmosphere.  The director just plays it straight,  wasting the above average amounts of  gore and special effects.  Italians do this kind of thing better.  There are some cute girls and frequent murders  , but  it never quite takes off .  Though entertaining and fun to critique,  it is an artistic failure.

I remember seeing the box in the local video store when I was a teen, but I never got around to taking a crack at it.  I'm always stymied by the fact that no matter how much time(way too much according to my wife!) I've devoted to catching up with or tracking down the b flicks from the golden age of my youth(7-15 yrs, 1977-1985), there are constant surprises; ones I never had any exposure to.  This is one of 'em!

Thanks for mention of it Lester.

The misogynist sleaze factor in the trailer puts me in mind of Lommel's THE BOOGEY MAN.  Of course, that's misogynist in a good way:wink:

eta: Well, I did get a bead on it(can't vouch for vid quality, but hey!) and with some luck I'll check it out tonight.

That's my driver's license picture....I hate that picture!"

Some people love this film. The gore and murders scenes are pretty intense but the rest is fairly unremarkable. I think I gave it a 6 over at the IMDb.

the quality of the dvd is excellent but it's expensive and no extras

Superstition works for me, on a cheesy level of course

I'm glad I own the DVD, it's definitely a keeper but yeah, a few extras would've been nice though.

my review seems a little harsh but I did enjoy the movie.  it comes down on the right side of the divide of stuff that sucks and stuff that doesn't.
