IT'S LONG AND SLENDER, AND WIGGLES WHEN YOU PET IT!

Sorry, after all your recent "innuendo" posts, I had to getcha back! :teddyr:

I caught this little beauty over by my Mom and Dad's house earlier tonight.  It's a speckled kingsnake, my favorite of our local species.  Docile and easy to handle, it made no effort to bite when I picked it up . . . . just pooped on me! :tongueout:

First off...

... :bouncegiggle:

That is a beautiful snake. I love the coloration.

Unfortunately, the prettiest snake around here (native) is the Copperhead.

Skinks, on the other hand, are numerous and colorful, in certain parts of the state. Fast bastards, though.

If you have not read it, the ultimate book for herpetologists, IMO, and one of the funniest books ever written, is Whit Gibbons' Their Blood Runs Cold; the chapter on (paraphrased) 'how not to trap a gator' alone is worth the price.

How big will that little fella get? (uh....the snake :tongueout:)

He'll top out a little over three feet.  BTW, this guy can actually constrict and eat copperheads . . . he is completely immune to their venom.
