OK, one of these days I'm gonna have to buckle down and see these Asian horror films in their original language, with subtitles.  But I loved the American adaptation of THE RING so much I never felt the need to see the original.  I was horribly disappointed in THE GRUDGE - the commercials made it look very scary, but the plot simply fell apart about halfway through.  I never even bothered with the sequel.

ONE MISSED CALL came in about halfway between the two.  It was not a home run, but at least a solid single in the scare department.  A couple of scenes in particular - the young man impaled as he is talking to his friend, and the whole hospital sequence near the end - were pretty high in the chiller department.  On the other hand, the plot drags in places and some sequences were highly derivative from THE RING.  Worth a rent, but not a buy.

I enjoyed The Grudge, probably more for its visuals and ideas than the plot, which as you said, started to fall apart. Plus, my wife's reaction when watching this film was priceless, so I have a soft spot for it. Good for you for avoiding the sequel. It, like the sequel to The Ring, SUCKED (though when I see it in the Walmart cheapie bin, I'll still buy it  :teddyr:).

I'll probably rent One Missed Call. I've reached a point where American remakes of Asian films have started to wear thin and I have to be in the proper frame of mind for them.

The FDA has been looking for a generic name for Viagra. After careful consideration by a team of government experts, it recently announced that it has settled on the generic name of Mycoxafloppin. Also considered were Mycoxafailin, Mydixadrupin, Mydixarizin, Dixafix, and of course, Ibepokin.
