TENEMENT: GAME OF SURVIVAL (aka SLAUGHTER IN THE SOUTH BRONX) - 1985

I just bought a 3 DVD boxed set from Shriek Show that includes the following movies:

* TENEMENT: GAME OF SURVIVAL (aka SLAUGHTER IN THE SOUTH BRONX)

* COP KILLER

* DON'T GO IN THE HOUSE

TENEMENT is a bad, but very entertaining action thriller.  It's sort of a crude cross between ASSAULT ON PRECINCT 13 and THE WARRIORS.  The plot is pretty basic: a street gang breaks into a tenement building, cuts the phone lines, and proceeds to terrorize, torment, assault, and murder the helpless residents.  This movie is unrated and is pretty bloody; unfortunately, the gore effects aren't very convincing.  Characters are beaten, stabbed, strangled, impaled, electrocuted, shot, and have their throats cut.  One guy picks up a dead rat on the end of a knife and sucks on its bloody head.  Overall, the acting is pretty bad, you can see shadows of the boom mike and the camera crew, and you can see that a police officer character is wearing white sneakers instead of shoes with his uniform!  In addition to being improperly dressed, the police also don't know much about security.  In one scene, they arrest a bunch of gang members and don't even put handcuffs on them.  (I guess shoes and handcuffs weren't in the budget).  In addition to the violence, this movie also features partial nudity and graphic drug use.  A nice flick for bad movie fans to watch on a weekend night.

This is in my opinion Roberta Findlays best movie. Very gritty and sleazy stuff, plus I love any budget movie that was shot in the Bronx or New York in the 80s.
Roberta Findlay hates most of her horror movies and horror in general. She seems to be on crack (or drunk) in the interview shown on the Blood Sisters DVD ranting about horror movies and what not. Worth checking out because its good for a laugh. What a crazy broad
