Science horror/catastrophic movie with earth digesting evil

Hey everyone 

I am looking for a movie I saw as a child in German tv. So my guess is, that it is 100% from before 2002, but more likely from before 1999. The scene I remember takes place in an airplane and the people see beneath it the whole world/dimension being digested by some evil, leaving the airplane in black space in the result .

Perhaps you have any idea and are up to a challenge
