About Jaws 2 and 4 ...

I rented Jaws 2 on tape once back in the late 80s, and it had a scene of a helicopter pilot being attacked by the shark after his chopper was overturned.  Likewise when I saw it on TV.  It's just about my favorite scene.  However, the DVD I just bought doesn't have that scene!

Now, I remember the Jaws 4 VHS being very different from the TV version.  On the VHS, scenes were edited in out of sequence, and the shark blew up instead being impaled.  On TV, all scenes were in proper order and the shark was impaled.  However, the DVD features the bad continuity/explode edit of the movie.

Are the TV edits of these commercially available on VHS or DVD?

I remember seeing the 3-D Jaws at the theater. All I remember is that it was bad in the boring sense of the word. It was either number 3 or 4.

Looks like that helicopter attack scene was deleted in some TV passes and / or VHS versions. Ken Begg mentions something about it in his "Jaws II" review at Jabootu.

Due to the horrifying nature of this film, no one will be admitted to the theatre.

Actually, the attack on the pilot was trimmed for the theatrical prints, so that the film could get a PG rating.  On TV, the footage was reinserted.

The footage is included on the DVD under 'Deleted Scenes.'

I'm currently reviewing Jaws: The Revenge, and for the first time have seen the blowing up ending, which I had been unaware of.  (I knew there was an ending where Mario Van Peebles somehow survives; that's on the DVD too.)  It's pretty  hilarious, because the shark literally explodes for no reason, and also because the special effects are atrocious.

The Jaws 3 & TR discs are bareboned, so the deleted footage isn't included.  Also, under "Recommendations", it lists the other Jaws films, rather than that more relevant "Don't watch this movie."

Don't you realize that loads of people out there think the original "classic" Jaws also sucks. There's no difference between Jaws 3 and theoriginal.  They are both equal in every way.

Wow, most shocking comment in the history of the universe! I need some whiskey... :buggedout:

When I watched Jaws 2 a few weeks back, the chopper just overturns and that's it. In 4, when I last saw it on TV, the shark just explodes after she shoots it once!?

Aside from this statement: I don't like Jaws.

I found myself not being a fan to the 1975 classic... And I also think Jaws shouldn't be classified as a Horror film... :)

Why not?  A giant shark eating people is pretty well within the horror genre.

While I don't have as high an opinion of Jaws as some people, I think it's a good movie.  It's long, but I think everything in it is something that needed to be there.
