I can not remember the name of this movie.. i used to watch it on cable in the 90's i cant remember much this is what i do remember...

it was of mexican or spanish backround.. a girl was the main character... she was talk how to basket weave from an older lady it had gang violence in it... i remember somehting happened while the girl was out and the little sister was hiding in the closet when she got there...she used to be afraid to go to the corner store.. please help!!!!
