I am yet again watching this but I will break down the plot.

My first issue here is the fact the predators have the ability of scanning bodies yet do not on their fallen comrade. I would imagine a body scan would be a basic requirement when one dies hunting aliens.

Ok now it does very poorly should the growth of this predalien like most the film struggling to show distance or time taken. You would have thought they would have had some short of ship wide scanner to detect aliens consider they store them for hunts.

Now as I mentioned the kid and the hunter running to the ship wreck which traveled a large distance from them was very poorly shown with them seeing it crash and arriving next to it.

Again an event is being used to show that a lot of time has passed when it is very poorly represented. Now it is the rotten arm of the hunter. While it did only show 3 face hungers escaping at this point it turns out that there is at least 5.

Now we have the main players of the film introduced. A girl with a boyfriend who is a thug and a delivery boy. How predictable.

Still now onto the chest bursting.... Why can they not keep the alien life cycle correct? Seriously what happened to the face hugger, wake up and live for a few hours/evening then die. Why do they rush it? You could have had an excellent scene with the hunter having his chest burst in hospital.

Now I have to ask the question why does the predator come unarmed? He takes weapons from the crashed ship which makes little sense. What happens if he turned up and found the ship crawling with aliens?

Now after a series of scenes containing aliens killing people or do not speed up the plot. We come to the point where the predator is removing evidence of the aliens. Why? I can understand killing the living aliens and destroying predator tech to stop it getting into human hands.

Now the predator kills any one who sees it. Also skins the guy and hangs him from the tree. Considering its destroying all evidence of the aliens and itself why doe it leave a body in a tree?

Now this is one of the few parts of the film I liked. The cutting laser traps stopping the aliens retreating down the tunnels. Saying that it is very little when the plot is so bad.

So now the aliens have escaped to the surface and here comes the confusing alien reproduction scenes. But first lets introduce some female skin and have a violent scene. I do enjoy the total lack of emotion for the death of friends or others.  Now this is when the film starts to get confusing as it seems unable to show distance between places or time between scenes but now the alien attacks start happening in different places unclear if its a small area or a large area. Considering there is only 2 aliens and a predalien the question how can there be so many attacks comes into play. Well apparently the predator alien hybrid has a way of injecting chest burster's into women. Therefore ignoring the alien breeding cycle and being able to spam as many adult aliens they want in the film with out validating how they came to exist. Gosh I miss the face Huggers.

Now naturally at this point a storm takes place and of course services go out of order (phones, power, mobiles....) its amazing how smart these aliens are when they want to be. 

From the point people get introduced they seem in the film to play a single role become a snack for an alien.

Now back to the alien swarm creation. Bob the pred alien hybrid seems to be able to impregnate women for some reason not men. This some how gives the one hybrid the ability to create a swarm. It also somehow means the chest burster's become full grown aliens in a matter of minutes.

Lets not forget great lines such as "The government does not lie to people." 

This film like many others make me wish for all the characters to die.

I feel this film is a violation of both the predator and alien series with Plot holes that elephants can fall through. I'm not sure if I expected more but I had low standards to begin with.

I really do mean that.
I cannot stand it.

I can't bear the fact that I bought it for £8.00 at woolies. In fact, I have no sympathy for them going into administration on the basis that on buying this DVD they didn't tell me how bad it was.

There's only one film that gets me more angry!!!

I just checked amazon and the price has dropped to under £3.

The lighting was awful and the ending was such a set up for another crap sequal.

Calling it "lighting" is giving the film makers too much credit.

I'd call it :
"Small bits of the screen that haven't fully been taken over by darkness and shadow."

Too true.

This was just an insult to fans. I wish they would make an alien 5.

I do like the fact I have watched this film twice now and I have only really just grasped the plot or what little there was of it.

I though the first was bad, and maybe it is, but it's genius compared to the sequel.

I'd like a Predator 3.

I didn't like Alien Resurrection as it wasn't a real Ripley, so no Alien 5 for me.

I also did not like alien resurrection. I was hoping for a non Ripley Alien film.

Predator 3 would be cool.

AVP was bad but great after watching AVPR.

But even the alien in the first movie grew to full size in, what?  An hour?  A day?  You went pretty much straight from the chestburster to the full grown alien in a couple of scenes, with no real indication of the time elapsed.

Anyway, I love AVP:R.  It's delightfully yucky and sleazy.  The aliens haven't been this well presented since 1986, and the Predator is the best since the original.  The human story is weak, but that's what the chapter skip button on the DVD remote is for. :)

o the DVD commentary what a good way to poorly fill in plot holes which only exist because they wanted the film to be more fast paced. 

It gave a much longer feeling of time than this joke of a film. I mean wtf chestburster to fully grown pred alien in 1 scene flash. So many plot holes with the predators to begin with. Why no body scan? Why no on board detection system when they stored alien face huggers? Why did only one get sent to clean up the mess? Why did this one predator kill humans on sight? Why when destroying evidence did it leave a body hung up in a tree? This movie was an insult to predator fans.

The aliens are not well presented in this awful excuse for an action teen slasher film. The alien life cycle was what the hybrid now has magical abilities? Screw the egg lets have the predalien be able to impregnate women through its mouth. Hell while we are at it lets say it can not impregnate men. yeah that works....  This way they can increase the aliens at a greater speed 4-6 per women and wont have to explain where half of them come from. Nice way to get an unlimited supply of full grown aliens in the film. Now some scenes where very poor. The aliens lost their speed, their fighting abilities and even the agility. They looked like they where waiting to be shoot in some scenes. Again this is all insulting to Alien fans.

Gore and special effects do not make a good movie. If the plot is s**t then the film will be s**t this is just another example of films that think they can get away with it.

After all these months of having it on DVD I finally finished it.

Wish I hadn't bothered. The film makers even manage to make a bomb look dark. How can a explosion be dark ?

Why can't they base the films on the comics or books ?

The book AVP Prey was brilliant.

I had the misfortune of seeing AVPR in a theater for free. The entire time I was watching it I kept thinking that the projectionist had not turned up the bulb at all in the projector as the movie was so dark throughout that most of the time I had no idea what in the hell was going on.

Lo and behold a friend of mine got it on DVD later and turns out that the movie was actually shot like that.
Did they not have enough money in the budget to hire a lighting technician? Were the lighting technician's guild on strike during the period they were filming?

Not to say that being able to see what is going on would have helped the movie out any.

There were only a few face huggers on the Predator ship.  The Predator who answered the call figured he could deal with five or six aliens, not anticipating the predalien being able to reproduce like it did.  No clue why he didn't call in more help, though.

He didn't kill all humans on sight.  He killed the cop because the cop could expose him.  He let the guy at the power plant live because the aliens had already shown themselves, so why bother to silence him?  The two stoners had guns on him.

Leaving the body in the tree wouldn't necessarily call attention to him.  The Predator knew the humans were already aware a killer was in the woods.

Ok 3 points....

The video he saw was of 2 hunters get slaughtered by the hybrid. Ok a hybrid who easily slaughtered his fellow hunters. Yeah it makes sense that he goes alone.  Even for the pleasure of the hunt it makes very little sense. A team clearing up would have worked much better.

Ok he yet one person live because he was distracted with hunting aliens.

The police were searching for missing people not bodies left by a killer. Hanging the body up made no sense except that it worked in the original Predator films and looked cool.
