Trying to find a thriller film title - any ideas appreciated

A couple of years ago my dad saw a film in WH Smiths, but refused to buy the film at the time.

It was about a game with 6 people and the person that won the game was the only one to survive.

I know its not much to go on but it's all we can remember - if anyone can help i would appreciate it.

The description is pretty vague and could fit several movies. Did the cover give any clues as to when the movie was made? Was it a new movie? Was it a "civilized" looking movie, or a rough adventure movie (i.e., did it look like the main selling point was the violence or the suspense)?

The one that immediately came to my mind was The Condemned, starring "Stone Cold" Steve Austin. That was the most recent one that I've seen.

could it have been a newer one about a video game? If I recall right, Stay Alive had six kids. Check it out.

There's a movie about a future reality TV game show where the contestants are all trying to kill each other. I can remember a lot of details but not the name, unfortunately. One is a teenage girl who is gushing about the new gun her dad (or was it her boyfriend?) gave her for the show.

Does that sound like it?

As usual, once I've composed a response to one of these I've remembered enough details to search for the movie.

The movie I was thinking of was Series 7: The Contenders.

Now that you mentioned weird talk show movies, I remember one which had a bunch of short skits
and featured Andrew Dice Clay. Also there's a tales from the darkside episode " I think" where there's
a bunch of people in a room like in the future or something and the teacher is trying to incite one
person to shoot the other.

Hmm the plot sounds a lot like THE RUNNING MAN with Ah-nold. THE CONDEMNED seems a good guess too.

im going to throw "Kolobos" out there. its not about them playing a game but it they are filming in a house for a reality show.
