Stop-motion "Hansel & Gretel"? And an octopus on the shore?

I recall going to a matinee showing of a stop-motion "Hansel & Gretel", one of the many weekend-matinee movies shown in the NY area when heavily advertised on TV (and it got me to go, obviously.)   Any info on that one?

Also, I have a nightmare memory of being very spooked by some movie on TV   where a guy gets pulled under the water from the shoreline by a giant squid or octopus.   That was MY "Jaws" fear of approaching the shoreline for many years.....

The 2nd one sounds like "The Raft" a Stephen King story from Creepshow 2.

When did you see the octopus movie?  It could be "Tentacles" (1977).  The other possibility, if it was an old B&W film, and if the octopus was HUGE, is "It Came from Beneath the Sea" (1955).

It Came From Beneath the Sea is my guess for the second one.  Another possibility is "Equinox".  There's a brief bit of an evil squid monster that pulls down a house with a man inside.

Third pic down is the squid monster:

The octopus could also possibly be Harryhausens version of the MYSTERIOUS ISLAND....

What year was the HANSEL and GRETEL film? Imdb has a puppet toon type made in 1954...

The octopus was an old film...maybe "It Came From Beneath The Sea".  I saw it on TV when I was a kid in the early 70s.   So that might be the one, though I think it might've been more obscure.   Definitely not "Mysterious Island" or anything similiarly large budget.

The Hansel & Gretel a George Pal puppetoon?  Possibly.

From what I gather at imdb...it was re-released to matinee showings numerous times.
