The mildly scratchy throat that has been bothering me of late has blossomed into something a bit less mild.  I'm coughing a bit and my ears are a little stuffed up.  No vomiting, diarrhea, or muscle pains.though, which are also symptoms of the new swine flu (yes, I looked it up.)  Damn media hype has got me all paranoid.  I'm PRETTY sure this isn't it.  Course, I DO work at a hotel... where lots of people from all parts of the world are roaming around...

Ah f**k, now I'm getting paranoid.

Alright, I'll try not to think about it.  Anyway, I'm sure it's just a minor cold.

Anyhow, one interesting aspect of having a cold is it makes you suddenly realize how many of  the over the counter medicines you have in your medicine cabinet expired several months (or even years) back.  I mean, seriously, how often do you use the Vicks Vapor Rub or that red throat spray crap?  I think I bought mine after I previously  got severely sick that last time and realized the LAST batch of crap I had was expired.

Also what sucks is this is supposed to be my days off.  Course, I can't really afford to get sick on a workday (unless maybe I could trade off with my co-worker.)  It's funny, I was just at the CDC website and one of the things they advice you to do if you have Swine Flu symptoms is to, stay at home for seven days and avoid going out as much as possible (with the exception, of course, of seeking medical treatment.)  Now, in today's economy, who the hell can afford to miss that much work?

Well, hopefully this will pass relatively quickly and I'll get back to what passes for normal.

Hope everyone else is doing okay.

Get well soon.  Don't get paranoid about swine flu.  I'd bet a hefty sum you don't have it.
I'll take you places the hand of man has not yet set foot...

Chill out. It could be anything. "Symptoms include fever, cough, sore throat, body aches, headache, chills and fatigue. The 2009 outbreak has shown an increased percentage of patients reporting diarrhea and vomiting" You don't have fatigue and chills, do you?
And don't let the media fool you. It's not "the Plague". There are medications.
I hope you'll get better soon.
Heads up!

Look on the bright side feeling achy is a great excuse to try those homeopathic home remedies like RCMerchant suggested.

Here's hoping you feel better soon.

I think you're clear but if it progresses any further, I'm sure the ER would be glad to see you.  This time of year spurns a lot of illnesses.  Feel better man.

I recall one flu (or something) I had back in the day that almost took me and my entire family out.  It knocked me out for 24 hours one day, literally.    Then it progressed to my mother and father.

Aw, hope you feel better!

My sister's husband insists that over the counter medication never goes bad.  I still throw it out.

I thought I had swine flu for a minute, but turns out I just had to poop!

I've been having some problems with stopped up sinuses and stuff this week but it has been more of an annoyance than a reason for me to go to the doctor.  I've been taking sudafed and been feeling better as of today.  The pollen has been horrendous where I live. I live practically in a bowl of mountains and the air quality gets really bad as the air just gets trapped. Makes my allergies go haywire.

I was going to recommend going to a doctor, but they'd probably just tell you to come back if the symptoms get worse, and then send you a bill for $900.
