i need help finding the name of a film -

B movie - a highly spiritual alien was on a planet and he had to go to earth to fight great evil through his mind - when he hurt earthlings through his mind he also felt the pain. ooh yeah, the planet the alien came from did away with violence. that's all i can remember. i watched the film back in the early 80's but i think the film was made in the 70's.

would anyone know or have a clue - i would like to know the name of the film  :)
