Ya I just heard about this, I have to ask what has he done to win this. He hasn't brought any sort of peace or understanding in the international community. The situation in the middle east hasn't improved what so ever sense he was elected, he hasn't made any great strides in improving the environment. His focus sense he has been elected has been on the U.S. economy and health care. So I have to ask what has he done?

The report I saw this morning said it was for "bringing attention to the cause of World Peace".  So he got it for being in the news?  Who knew it was so easy.  They had over 200 nominees for this award and this is the best they could come up with?

It's a joke, but it's not Obama's fault. 

They should retire the Peace Prize; since Arafat won one, it's almost an insult to win.

Agree Rev.: the credibility of the Peace Prize is lacking.  The other Nobels seem to be awarded based on actual achievements with positive effects: after the fact.  Long after. The article I just read said that the nominations were in early last February 1st and that it was awarded to Obama based on what they thought he *could* do in future.  They cannot be serious!  The nominees included rights activists in China and Afghanistan and the man who was elected Prime Minister in Zimbabwe - each of whom, in those contexts, put their lives on the line for peace and the betterment of humanity.  How does that compare?

Well said, Newt.  This just goes to show how degraded the so-called "Peace Prize" has become.  I nearly choked when I heard the news on the radio this morning.

That being said - since Obama's ideology and ruling style are so much better suited to Europe than to the USA, could we raffle him off to the EU and use the proceeds to pay down some of the debt he's inucrred here?

Hell, I voted for him, and I still dont get it. All it does is give people something else to criticize him for, and its not even really his fault.

I do like how I hear people on TV and such criticizing Obama for this.  You might as well criticize me for the weather in Tahiti.  Makes equal amounts of sense.

The one upside is it conclusively proves that a lot of his harsher critics will find any excuse to trash him, no matter how incredibly thin it is.
