FREDDY GOT FINGERED: Well, it really depends on what you would think about it

Alright, after seeing the comercials showing the funny parts for FREDDY GOT FINGERED, me and a friend of mine decided to go see it. I don't know why I wanted to see it. All I know is that it was a hot day today and I must have been delerious. But damn, it was so hot that it made the Sahara Desert look like California.

So we go see FREDDY GOT FINGERED. Now I am not a Tom Green fan at all. I felt that his role in ROAD TRIP was wasted because he was funnier than any of the other characters in the film, and yet his performance is a bit brief. I felt that if Green was the main character in ROAD TRIP it would have been funnier. But than again, after watching FREDDY GOT FINGERED I now have my doubts about him playing a main character.

The plot? Well Green plays a 28 year old looser who feels that his carrer call is to be an animator and make cartoons. His father Rip Torn feels that Green is wasting his life and should get a "real" job. When Green and Torn go nuts, Green makes up a story about Torn "fingering" his other son Freddy. And basicaly their is not much else to tell about this film because the pacing does slow to a screaching halt!

I might review this film for TV, but I really can't say it was good or bad. Their were some good jokes and their were some bad ones. Rip Torn was hillarious as the father, but staring in this film might damage his carrer a bit. Tom Green's direction (yes, he directed this film) is unique, but I don't expect him to be getting any calls to helm his directorial powers on another film.

But to get to the jokes, their is more than what you really expect to find in FREDDY GOT FINGERED (and coming from Mr. Tom Green himself that says alot). Their is the first scene in which he sees a horse's huge (and I mean HUGE people) penis Green jups in and grabs it while saying "Look I am a farmer". Funny? Well I heard more people say "Ewwww" than "Ha, ha, ha". Personally, it was funny FOR THE MOMENT. But then later on when Green stops at the same place and sees the same horse having sex he goes nuts, but does not grab the penis (thank God he doesn't). Now what does this have to do with the plot? Absolutely nothing, but hey this is Tom Green we are talking about here so he feels "What the hell, I will just make it more exciting". Seeing Green hand job a horses penis is not really a great way to excite the audience, but remember this is Tom Green so what do you really expect from him? And as you can see the jokes really wear down to quickly. And then his wheelchair-bound girlfriend wanting to give Green a blow job every time he sees her just adds more difficulty to the humor. Not only that, but Green decides to pull another cock joke by holding an elephants penis and have it firing sperm at his dad! Jesus, is Tom Green really obsessed with dicks or what. He seems to act like everybody else of his sex has a penis and he doesn't. Is it just envy or does he really want to act like he's a moron.

The only "true" funny parts were the scene involving Green finding soap-on-a-rope and calling it "treasure" and when he plays an organ with sausages hangling on pullys and asking his dad "Daddy would you like some saussage?" Hell, these two jokes are the only ones that don't wear down to nothingness.

So if you are a true Tom Green fan you can view this on the big screen. But if you are not, then rent it when it comes out on video. I am also not suprised that 20th Century Fox financed this film. After all, Fox gave us the crapfest film DUDE, WHERE'S MY CAR? As if you expected FREDDY GOT FINGERED to be a comedy classic.

Tom Green had prostate cancer. That might be at the root of the 'phallus' theme.

Chris K.

As much as Tom Green did have prostate cancer, I feel that expressing his obsession with dicks (especialy animal ones for that matter) really goes beyond the limit. Tom Green may rub it in your face, but that does not mean I have to like it. And I don't. Of course, that is the price I pay to go see a film.

All I want to know is how the MPAA really gave this one an R rating. They might say SCARY MOVIE deserves the NC-17, but looking at FREDDY GOT FINGERED it makes me wonder why this one was not given the chopping block. Beleive me, it was like watching a triple X rated movie in a legit theatre.

I though Green had testicular cancer?

I saw him on Regis a couple of days ago, and they talked about him getting his right nut removed.

Teacher?....i've learned all i want or care to about Tom Green. Can i go and puke now?.............Thanks for the warning,guys..............Barrfffff.

It's a time-honored rule that a trailer or TV commercial for a movie contains the best and funniest parts--not always true, but usually. (It is a sign of bad days for Sylvester Stallone that he does not even APPEAR in the trailers for "Driven" on TV, but Burt Reynolds DOES. Yikes.)

Anyway, that said, I think I'll pass on "Freddy Got..." I live in San Francisco; if I want to be shrieked at for two hours by a hysterical pathetic self-absorbed lowlife loser who looks like Shaggy from "Scooby-Doo," I hardly have to pay eight bucks for it...

Sorry, I love Tom Green and thought it was hysterical. It was fun, even though the plot sucked major ass, it's hilarious to watch him perform. But like you all said before, I wonder how they got away with an R rating, even with that title. When I first heard it I thought it was a pun, not intentionally meaning "fingered", but had the Green humor behind it. Then I realize it actually means "fingered" (in the sex sense), and I was like, "How the hell???" But overall, outrageous, not all the parts were shown in the preview. If you want to laugh see it, otherwise, go rent some Mel Brooks. *** stars out of ****

Chris K.

I think it is safe for me to say that Mel Brooks style of comedy beats that of Tom Green. When it comes to Brooks using a high class sex joke, he only uses it ONCE and then moves on. Unlike how Green overdoes it when it comes to grabbing a horse or elephants penis this is when somebody should say "Hey Tom, once was enough". That and the fact it has nothing to do with the plot or situation of the storyline, but remember folks this is Tom Green and nothing is supposed to make sense in his line of comedy even though it really sucks.

Brooks films like THE PRODUCERS, THE 12 CHAIRS, YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN, BLAZING SADDLES, HIGH ANXIETY, and HISTORY OF THE WORLD: PART 1 do not overstep their bounds that much. They are crude, obscene, and rude. But definately funny. And you don't have to be a big Mel Brooks fan to understand his comedy in movies at all. Now FREDDY GOT FINGERED is Green's first directorial debut (and certainly came too late as well). Green's film consists of using the same joke all over again, except he stretches it out too far and becomes boring. Green feels that his film is a big success, but after all the bad reviews coming from both critics and regular viewers they feel like giving the finger to Green. But then, Green would take it as a complement rather than an insult.

If you want to laugh, see some Mel Brooks instead. But if you want to be bored or just waste your $7.50 on some moron with no sense of style, then go see FREDDY GOT FINGERED.

Tom Green's best comedy is mostly improvisational stuff that he does to low level authority figures just to see how they'll react.  It's what made him famous, and nobody does it better than he does (except maybe occasionally on Jackass).

The problem with having Green star in a feature film is that the spontaneity is gone.  Sure, he's still messing with people, but it's all staged and choreographed and calculated.  It's not just him and one guy with a shaky video camera annoying the hell out of uptight people on the street, it's him with fifty crew people annoying the hell out of actors who are paid to be there.  And that's not funny.

As for Freddy Got Fingered, I am truly amazed at what the movie managed to slip past the MPAA, and some scenes really are pretty funny (the animated part is hilarious).  But like with so many other recent comedies, the filmmakers only about what they can get away with, not what they can accomplish.

Freddy Got Fingered is undeniably THE WORST comedy film. I've never seen a poorer attempt at humour since all those stupid parody movies (Scary Movie, Epic Movie, etc.)
came out. This film will make even the toughest bad movie lover cringe.

HappyGilmore

I liked the Tom Green Show.

I HATED Freddy Got FIngered.

Only redeeming scene, in the entire 2 hour run time, was the "Daddy Would You Like Some Sausage" scene.
"The path to Heaven runs through miles of clouded Hell."

Don't get too close, it's dark inside.
