This is an interesting one in my book.  It sort of reminds me of Justice League of America and stuff.  It's available on youtube to watch and I'll be watching it sooner or later (How I can resist such a bad tempting movie?   :teddyr: ).  For those who have seen it and have also seen the recent Fantastic Four movies, which one do you think is better?

We live in quite an interesting age. You can tell someone's sexual orientation and level of education from just their interests.

I've seen it (thank you Youtube) as well as the recent ones.  My opinion, I liked the 1994 one better.  I'm one of the few people who likes cheesy late 80s-early 90s movies.  And, well, this is one of them.

The effects are as guessed, the acting (from what I remember) was bad and the story was pretty different from the comics, which I hold so close to my heart. :teddyr:

Anyway, I'd say go for it.

The 1994 film is awful, but it is WAAAY better than the two recent films. They didn't have a big budget, CGI or airbrushed actors after a fat payout so as goofy as it is, it captures the FF4 quite well.

Heh. I know how Circus feels about CGI. I tend to agree with him, although perhaps not as vehemently.

I didn't even know there was a FF film in 1994. How did I miss that? Those were the days, when the comic book movie genre was still young. The films still weren't very good, but they beat the hell out of alot of the crap they're cranking out today.

You missed it because it was never released - the studio made it on the cheap so they could keep the rights but never intended to release it (not that they told those involved in making it though).

i never knew it was on youtube, ill have to check it out. its kind of a legend, few people seem to know about it. the only preview ever released for it was on the movie Carnasaur, which has become a collectible just because of that.

I digress, but who here has seen the Captain America film? How about those rubber ears!

I remember seeing pictures this in production in some movie mags back then, and awaited its arrival in the theater. Alas as we all know it never came, but I bought a bootleg VHS at a convention around 1997 I think. Of course the effects are pretty shoddy ($3mill budget), but for the times I think it is pretty fun, and I liked Joseph Culp as Doctor Doom he got the wild gesticulations down pat. I actually like the rockier look of the Thing better than the more recent version as well. I was not aware that this was never intended for release, I always thought that it was shelved due to a bigger budget version coming down the pike which I guess was partly true.

The most glaringly bad effects are of course Johnny at the end when he 'Flames On', the less said about that the btter.

edit: here's an interesting article about the film with quotes from Roger Corman, and the actors involved.
