I had read that the film Giant Claw should be the worst movies ever made, but it is jut the special effects that are bad in the film.

The story is not bad, nor is the acting in the film, and it does also has some well executed humor in it, they do also use explanations that is based on believable science, and the military plan ahead and does not use atomic bombs like morons as they often does in other bad films.

This film can be a target for remake in the same "The Last Man on Earth" was in "I Am Legend" with Will Smith, that also was the tittle of the novel this film was based upon.

So my opinion is:
Story: Okay
Acting: Good but not great
Special effects: Very bad

Bad things in the film: Speaker voice that in some places speak out things that could be said by the actors, annoying use of unnecessary stock footage and the funny looking (marionette) monster.

The monster in the movie Robot Monster is actually worse and more ridiculous, and even The Green Slime“s monsters are almost as silly as the Giant Claw, so I can not accept this as the worst film ever, it is bad, bad not so bad. Just now does I want to push "Liquid Sky" to that position and free "The Giant Claw" from that title.

P.S This is my opinion, it may not be correct, but it is my opinion just now.

I Have Seen The Movie THE GIANT CLAW , And I Didn't Think It Was The Worst Movie Ever , You Can Definitely Find A Lot Worse

I like the Giant Claw.  A movie is bad for me if its not entertaining.  Giant Claw certainly is.
At least, that's what Gary Busey told me...

The Burgomaster

I agree.  THE GIANT CLAW suffers mostly from the very bad puppet monster.  If it had better special effects, it would probably be considered an average 1950s sci-fi movie.  It's certainly not the worst movie ever.  Probably not even in the top 25 worst ever.  But I'd say it has one of the worst looking monsters ever.

"It's as big as a battleship!"

According to star Jeff Morrow the cast was told while filming the effects to be added later would be stunning and state-of-the-art. When he saw the infamous marionette critter at the premiere he left the theater early to avoid anyone in the audience recognizing him, and went home and got drunk.

Her's a good recap of the film's history, with prime Monster Bird from Outer Space footage:

If you're an Andy Milligan fan there's no hope for you.

I'd say it "features" a silly marionette... its one of my favorite movies I must admit
