I was actually rolling through my local Hasting's hoping to snag the DVD of SPARTACUS: BLOOD AND SAND, but to my sadness every copy of every episode was already checked out!  But as I morosely wandered through the new releases shelf, I saw a movie with a zombie in a short order cook's apron and this catchy title, so I figured, what the heck?

It's a lonely diner on a very deserted stretch of highway where serial killer Ken stops in for a late night meal and a couple of quick murders.  His glib personality and good looks cause the waitress, Rose, to really open up to him and talk about her life, and in turn, he opens her up with a knife he carries, and then kills the short order cook with an expert knife throw as the man tries to run away.  He stows both bodies in the cooler and is cleaning up the mess when a young couple named Rob and Kathy stop in.  They've been having an argument over splitting up, so Ken decides to pose as a waiter and take their order, then worm his way into the conversation before knifing them and tossing them in the cooler too.

He is just about to slip the knife between Kathy's ribs when he is distracted by the arrival of the local  sheriff - and by the fact that the two people he murdered earlier are suddenly up and walking around!  Soon the sheriff is on the floor bleeding from a zombie bite to the neck, and Bob and Kathy find themselves as the hostages of Ken who grows increasingly angry and irrational as more and more zombies show up outside . . .

This is actually a pretty funny, low budget ($500,000) zombie film that was filmed in only 8 nights.  It has some genuinely funny moments in it, and overall, is worth the rental despite (or perhaps because of) the cheesy title.  DIE-ner.  Get it?
