I'm using a little laptop.  They call it a notebook here. Forgive my hardware noobiness.

Okay, I think I know what might be happening.  On most laptops now, if you just tap the touchpad (not the buttons, but the pad itself) it will "click".  So when you're typing, you're probably accidentally brushing the touchpad which then proceeds to click where ever the cursor is on screen.  If that makes sense.

Your best bet is to use a normal USB mouse that plugs in, or to disable the "tap" feature of your touchpad.

I have the same problem as KB on my laptop. Perhaps I am accidentally hitting the touchpad too...

To both Jase and KB:  I would suggest a Google search of "disable the tap to click feature" along with the make and model of your laptop.
