That 'thud' sound was me falling over in shock.

James Cameron has announced not one but 2 sequels to "Avatar", the movie that didn't even have enough plot for one film, let alone anything to build a sequel, or two, on.

He won't release the first until like, I think 2014. Maybe if he hires all the worlds best living SF writers he can have them spend a couple years trying to come up with a plot that could possibly carry on the formulaic, canned story of Avatar.

All this guy's resources and he wants to make sequels to one of the most by the numbers cookie cutter movie ever made.

Yes, but the first sequel will be something different. It'll take place underwater. And why am I having flashbacks to "The Abyss?"

Meh.
It made a boatload of money so at least one sequel was probably inevitable.  I look forward to ignoring it just like the first one.

Why? Why? Why? Why can't these films die?

Okay a bit much but I dislike Cameron in this style of film.
Ah, the good old days.

Eh, the first one was alright.  I'll probably see the second.  God knows I've seen worse.

Um, what style of his do you like?  Documentaries?

No, Aliens and Terminator were quite excellent and not overly preachy.
