She did so much to bring breast cancer and substance addiction - two formerly taboo subjects - to public notice.

True. Her name is synonymous with drug rehab. I would even say she left a bigger and more indelible mark on history than her husband.

Also kind of encouraging that someone could recover from both cancer and addiction and live to be 93.
