The Burgomaster

This could have been an esteemed cult horror flick in the same league as movies like TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE.  Unfortunately, it was written and directed by William ("no talent") Girdler.  As a result, it's silly and disappointing.

The movie starts with 4 college girls being shot, stabbed, and decapitated at a farm house.  (Later in the movie, we see 3 of them hanging on a meathook . . . thus, the movie's brilliant title!)  There's also a bloody murder with a pick later in the movie.

Girdler ruined this movie with dumb, awkward dialogue and uninspired direction.  Plus, the movie is padded with nightclub footage of a band called American Xpress.  Too bad.  I looked forward to seeing this for a long time only to be disappointed.  Ho-hum . . .

This is one of my personal favorites. From the rather fun decapitation in the basement near the beginning to the terrified girl bursting into the kitchen where another character is cutting slices of meat off of a severed leg (Dialogue--Girl: What ARE you doing?!? Other character: Fixing dinner.), I was in hog heaven of craptastic cinema. Personally, I think this could stand a remake that could play up both the horror AND the humor (as long as they play it like a situation comedy and not the smug elbow to the ribs with a wink everyone want to do these days).

I was especially taken with the main female's consistantly odd delivery of her lines. Almost as if she was on medication and couldn't hear her own voice.

But then I watch Blood Freak every Thanksgiving and Christmas Evil every Christmas, so you can't really trust my thoughts on things. Well, no one else does.
