Young guy traveling through space finds old rock radio signal

OK folks, I don't have much to start with. Hopefully it will be enough for someone to figure out.

All I remember is this young guy traveling through space in a ship. I think there were other people on board as well, but I am not certain. I remember very plainly while traveling he located an old radio signal of some rock song. He told the ship to alter course to follow the signal. I also remember some sort of evil people (perhaps borg like) that boarded the ship in efforts to take control.

I can't remember exactly when I saw this movie, but I'm guessing mid to late 80's.

Anyone have any thoughts?

I finally got a chance to sit down and watch it. Earth Star Voyager is the correct answer. Thanks!

I must say though, now that I watched it again I can see why it died a quick death. Nice try Disney, better luck next time.
