Friday the 13th (1980) - it looks fresh, detailed and colorful while retaining natural grain. It also has one of the better HD mono audio tracks heard so far. Impressive.

Kubrick, Nolan, Tarantino, Wan, Iñárritu, Scorsese, Chaplin, Abrams, Wes Anderson, Gilliam, Kurosawa, Villeneuve - the elite

Thinking about it, Sucker Punch would look pretty good in Blu-Ray.  I think I might get it since the extended cut will be 7.99 at Best Buy on Black Friday.

John Carpenter's The Fog (1980). It looks jaw-dropping good on Blu-ray but there's a catch. It's not available in the U.S. and the UK blu's picture quality is pretty bad.
Fans of The Fog should seek out the superb German release, which isn't region blocked.
