Lady with abusive husband has dog statue that makes a vicious dog come to life

I vaguely remember watching a horror movie like this with my mother late at night as a little kid around the late 80s or early 90s, I think it was played on tv. All I remember was a lady with an abusive husband (or abusive boyfriend maybe?) and she had a statue of a dog (i think a doberman) and she could hold it and summon a vicious dog through the statue to come and attack people, I remember it ending with the husband beating her or something and he takes the statue from her and smashes it on the floor and then the dog spirit (lol this sounds so dumb as i type this) comes and attacks and kills the husband. Does this sound like anything anyone here has ever seen? I've wondered for years what the hell this could've been that I saw, of all my b-horror movie watching and collecting I've never come across this as an adult and only have the vauge memory from seeing it as a kid. Maybe it was a tv movie perhaps?

Given the timeframe, that it was late night, and the description, it sounds like something from one of several horror anthology shows that were popular then, like Tales from the Darkside or Monsters. I don't know the movie/show you're talking about, but that's probably a good place to start. This movie is a little late for your timeframe and doesn't exactly match your description but it has a woman who sics a dog-monster on her husband (and other people who p**s her off).
