The Burgomaster

Tight thriller about two guys and their shared, live-in girlfriend getting into some messy business with a Mexican drug cartel.  There's plenty of nasty violence and steamy sex to keep you entertained.  I enjoyed the performances, especially Benicio Del Toro who should get some Best Supporting Actor buzz around Oscar time.  The ending didn't quite do it for me, but the rest of the movie was good enough to overlook that.  I'm sure an unrated director's cut will be heading to DVD and Blu-Ray in a few months.

Rating: 4 / 5

I'm debating over whether to catch this one at the theater or not.  I've heard generally good reviews of it so far, but I'm not sure how much I trust Oliver Stone after his last few films.

Is this one as politically charged as his other films?  I've not cared for much of his work since Natural Born Killers.

A bald man named Savalas visited me last night in a dream.  I think it was a Telly vision.

I didn't think it was extremely politically charged.  If it was, the sex and violence far exceeded the politics.  It reminded me of a cross between TRAFFIC and SCARFACE . . . with some Quentin Tarantino mixed in.
