Coming to home video June 18th is BENEATH LOCH NESS, which is apparently a JAWS knock-off only with Nessie in place of a great white shark. Ironically, this same premise was done back in 1980 in the atrocious Larry Buchanan flick THE LOCH NESS HORROR. Only this one has Patrick Bergin and Lysette Anthony hunting a CGI Loch Ness monster instead of a rampaging Mardi Gras float like in Buchanan's flick. You have to go to IMDB and read the user comments from angry Scots because apparently this movie, which was filmed in California with non-Scottish actors using really bad accents, was released in Nessie's homeland and they HATED it with a passion. This one sounds so bad I'm gonna have to have a look when it comes out.

Well, pour me a pint of Guiness and and break out the Haggis on a stick. This could be good MST material. Hummm...how many Scottish themed B-movies are there, do 'ya think? A fair number, i'd imagin. Lair of the White Worm being just the first that comes to mind. May Fat Bastard sit in your favorite easy chair, Ye Heathin' English!

Beneath Loch Ness is due out on DVD on June 18th.  In some posters it sports the same tagline as the hopefully soon to be out Megalon:  "60 feet of prehistoric terror!"

The same company doing the Loch Ness movie has also made a sabretooth tiger film starring David Keith.

Jay O'Connor

> starring David Keith.

As the sabretooth tiger?

This movie sounds like it would be hated with a passion wherever it was released first.  It seems a bit funnier that they'd particularly hate it in Scotland though, as if they're waiting around for a movie that does the mythical figure of The Loch Ness Monster some justice.

Have u ever seen Crater Lake Monster? Talk about a bad movie.

They already made such a movie; Loch Ness starring Ted Danson. It's a family movie though, not a horror movie.

I have the crater lake monster on dvd, the monster greatly resembles Nessie = plesiosaur (sp?) Definitely bad movie material.

One might think "Lair of the White Worm" takes place in Scotland, and some people have placed it there, but, actually, it takes place in the Peak District of Derbyshire, England. "Where all the people are strange." That according to the director's commentary from the DVD. The only Scotsman--supposedly--in the film is Angus (Capaldi.) Everybody else is--supposedly--speaking with a Derbyshire accent. Dubbed in the case of Eve (Oxenberg) and Mary (Davis.) Enjoy!
