Looking for a movie that I remember bits and pieces from the trailer...

So... unfortunately not a whole lot to go on here... The bits and pieces I do remember:

-A guy who had something happen to him, either something in his personal or professional life, that results in developing insomnia.  I'm pretty sure that he starts to write on his walls while he can't sleep.  Unfortunately I can't for the life of me remember who played the character.
-Not 100% certain but I seem to recall the movie title being one word.  My brain keeps going back to the idea that the title of the movie had something to do with insomnia, dreaming, wakefulness... something to do with consciousness or lackthereof.
-Fairly certain that the movie was made in the 2000s.
-There was some woman/girl involved somehow but I don't remember what/how/why.  I dunno if I'm mixing multiple movies in my head but I think she might get hit by a car?  Or a car is involved somehow?

I've been searching for the past couple of hours trying to get lucky with Google keywords, I tried searching the solved/unsolved stuff here as well.

Help please!

Mofo Rising

Possibly Chasing Sleep with Jeff Daniels.

Also, The Machinist fits your insomnia description, but not much else.
Every dead body that is not exterminated becomes one of them. It gets up and kills. The people it kills, get up and kill.

I don't remember if insomnia was involved but the main character wrote words all over the place because he had such short term memory.
"O the legend they say, on a Valentine's Day, is a curse that'll live on and on.."

Some elements sound like Pi (1998) but I think you'd likely recall that one's ending.
"This above all: To thine own self be true!"

MegZie

"The Machinist" (2004) with Christain Bale ticks all these boxes.
An industrial worker who hasn't slept in a year begins to doubt his own sanity.

Memento?
Dang it, I meant to say that one.  I described the movie I was thinking of without saying the title.  Durrh!
"O the legend they say, on a Valentine's Day, is a curse that'll live on and on.."

Insomnia (2002) don't remember writing on the walls but vaguely remember other bits matching your description.

Been awhile since I've seen it.
Ah, the good old days.
