My wife and I were trying to remember a movie.  In the beginning a young girl is given a chance to save her family by holding a rope as they are suspended over a pit or cliff.  Later, my wife, thinks the dad survived and goes out to rescue the girl and get revenge.

The (terrible) movie Cyborg (1989) starring Jean-Claude Van Damme has a similar scene.  It was in a flashback.  The bad guys forced a little girl to hold a rope (or was it barbed wire?) which was holding someone up from certain death.  I seem to remember her trying to hold it, but it was slipping through her hands and cutting them?

I don't remember exactly who was having the flashback or when during the movie that particular one took place, as there were a lot of them in that movie.
