I just read this on Scifi.com.

"Wired magazine reported that only 19 movie theaters in the United States will be screening Star Wars: Episode II--Attack of the Clones, despite director George Lucas' efforts to tout the new technology, according to a report on Zap2it.com. But Lucas has already put theater owners on notice that no movie houses will be allowed to screen the third prequel, Episode III, unless they have installed digital projection systems, the magazine reported."

Were does George get off in telling theater owners what they NEED to buy? Some digital theater systems can run up to $100,000, easy. He filmed Ep 2 in Digital technology hoping that theaters would be ready by the time it was released. In the past two years, only 19 have it ready! So, if the trend holds, in two years, Ep 3 will only be shown on 40 screens Nationwide???!!???!!!

The Bard

At least he isn't appearently demanding that for a month straight ST:2 be played in a cinema's largest theatre. Last year I went down to the Cinemaplex by me during its 3rd week and there was 2 other people with me.

Lee

I sure hope this is just a wide spread rumor. I mean think about it, why would they want to do a dumb thing like limiting the number a theatres the movie plays in. That cuts off the fans and hurts business. IT'S STUPID!!!

J.R.

I dunno, the guy who made Howard The Duck, Episode 1 and Willow shouldn't be telling anyone what to do. Lucas believes himself to be some sort of flannel-clad diety and has the money and power to back it up. If you oppose his rule he will destroy you.

mogwai

that's probably a mean spirited rumor, just because that fat hyena is releasing a new movie. but if it was true i'd kick is jedi arse to jupiter! he can f**king see his own movies at his lucas home. what a wanker.
