You have to love those Texans. Born in Huntsville, Texas, in 1924.

And like alot of Hollywood stars, he believed in keeping it in the family. His older brother was Dana Andrews who died in 1992 at the age of 83.

What did separate him from most Hollywood stars was his marriage. He and his wife were married 65 years. Which is longer than I've been alive.

As for his best known role as the S.W.A.T. commander on "S.W.A.T." I never watched it that often, but I did see the two part episode "The Running Man" back in 1974, which I still remember. Not only for Leslie Nielsen's rare turn as the villain, but with Nielsen's shootout with the entire S.W.A.T. team at the end. Almost 40 years later, it is still one of the best filmed shootouts I have ever seen on TV.

R.I.P. Hondo.

:bluesad: RIP Mr Forrest and thank you. My Fad was a policeman for a while and I always dreamed of being in a SWAT team.
We shall meet in the place where there is no darkness.
