Western/sword/android movie?

There was a movie in the late 70's early 80's, I think. With the premise that an android has been reprogrammed by humans after a post-apocalyptic event. I don't remember much about the movie other than the main character was a white male, go figure, and the end scene a female android suffered a fatal blow and the main character moves her head so she can see the sunset for the last time. Also guns were rare items and most people had swords, if I remember correctly. Thank you for your help this one is driving me nuts!

This rings bells like crazy, but the only film coming to my mind is "Steel Dawn" and I don't remember any female robots or androids in that movie.
