Just stumbled upon this site and already answered a long time search for a short film called "The Contraption"
Searched for another short that I saw 25 years ago but no success.

This was a stop motion from a film festival that centered around cans of vegetables. It may have been foreign. It did not contain any dialogue just sounds. The cans would make speeches and rally support of the various cans. Battles would break out and cans would be re-labled. The final fight scene among all the cans was very explicit even though it was only cans of vegetables breaking open.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I think it may have been shown at the Sick and Twisted animation festival. The year that Beavis and Butthead debuted with Frog Baseball. Still cannot find any further information.

Konservfilm (1990), by Zlatin Radev (Bulgaria)?
Check on IMBd and Google. I'm still not permitted to post links yet.

I saw it a hell of a time ago on TV (on the french/german cultural channel ARTE), and I deeply regret that I didn't set my VCR to grab it at that time. I've been trying to find it for years ever since.

^ yes this is definitely the movie you're talking about. You can find it on a movie called animation celebration vol. 4 (got my copy off ebay)

Just bought it and watched it this weekend. Awesome grisly stop motion special effects and for sure the movie you are talking about.

Wow. that is the film short I was looking for. I didn't think anyone would be able to remember that short. I have referenced it many times how graphic the content can be without it being explicit.

Thanks so much for putting my mind to rest after many years.
