I had planned to start my next work over Christmas break - but getting the contract on MATTHEW'S AUTOGRAPH meant I no longer had any "works in progress," and teaching the unit on Imperial Rome to my World History class made me long to immerse myself in that fascinating era once more. So rather than read Colleen McCullough's epic MASTERS OF ROME series yet again, I decided instead to begin work on my own epic - and this one is going to be a page turner! Set in the middle of the First Century, it is the tale of a young Roman senator who is asked by a Greek doctor to represent an accused criminal at his trial. The criminal's name is Saul ben Issachar, sometimes called Saul of Tarsus. The Senator is unwilling at first to use his real name in their correspondence, so the Lucas, the Greek doctor gives him a pseudonym - Theophilos - or in our language:

LOVER OF GOD
"I shall smite you in the nostrils with a rod of iron, and wax your spleen with Efferdent!!"

I think I read THE APOSTLE years ago.  It sure looks and sounds familiar.  His other stuff looks good too.
