My new job has me on the road for 1-2 weeks a month.   Its all light travel, but I'm surprised at how difficult it is on the family and myself.   I'm up at stupid hours to catch flights, and the kids are really hurting for Dad time.  My workouts are randomized, and my food is too.
Do any of you professionally travel, and how do you cope?

As much as possible, try to keep small familiar things with you, to keep you grounded, stay in touch with home as much as you can, make the time with your loved ones as meaningful as possible, and after a while you either do begin to adjust, or you realize it's not for you. Good luck.
What does not kill me makes me stranger.

I went out to NYC for work a couple months ago and might have to go out again the first part of next month.  It wasn't too bad.  At least they didn't insist I drive a couple hours to an airport so it'd be cheaper.  And they had me stay in downtown NYC too near the office.  I guess they figured the time saved in doing that made up for the steep cost of the hotel.

I had some time in the evenings to myself so I was able to go see the new One WTC and a few other things I missed in 2013.  The South Street Seaport was open again - it was a ghost town in 2013.

God of making the characteristic which becomes dirty sends the hurricane.

Thanks... I DO enjoy the downtime.   I try and get walks and stuff in, and catch up on sports and films I've neglected.
