Let's talk about this mess of a movie

I really like the first one and when I saw this on sale for99 cents I couldn't pass it up, and wow

This movie is all over the place
Kubrick, Nolan, Tarantino, Wan, Iñárritu, Scorsese, Chaplin, Abrams, Wes Anderson, Gilliam, Kurosawa, Villeneuve - the elite

HIGHLANDER fans prefer to pretend this movie never existed.
Not even Sean Connery could save this piece of dreck!! :buggedout: :hatred:

They at least made one attempt at continuity. Since he claimed to have become mortal at the end of the original, they made up an excuse for him to regain his youth and immortality.

It really goes down hill from there, changing the nature of the Immortals and the Prize, a lame environmental sub-plot, and silly ways to use their immortal powers.

It ends up being a "disappointing" bad instead of an "amusing" bad.

The original Highlander was a superb movie, so when Highlander 2 was released, I was off to the cinema with great anticipation.  Back then I thought it was halfway decent.

The DVD became available in the local bargain box a few years ago, so I was able to revisit it for the first time in over 20 years.  And I have to wonder what the heck my then-brain was smoking.  Of all the directions they could have taken Highlander, they had to pick the most cheesy and bizarre.  The backstory to the Immortals smacks of L. Ron Hubbard's Xenu concoctions and completely ruins the subtle and mystical elements of the original.  What on earth were they thinking??

I must watch it again, and bask more fully in its badness.

I noticed that HIGHLANDER 3 seemed to completely ignore the second film.

I've never seen any of them, but I remember this was Siskel and Eberts worst movie of the year that year.

It's the only HIGHLANDER I've seen and I actually thought it was fairly hilarious! I'm sure if I was a fan of the franchise I wouldn't have been so amused.

this movie for all of it's many, many flaws was well worth the 99 cents I paid for it

this picture has talented actors and actresses in it, but holy hell everything else is a jumbled mess

it pretty much contradicts most, if not all of, the first Highlander film

the hell does Planet Zeist have to do with anything?

I think Noah (Spoony) said it best about this film.

"How do you buttf**k an entire series in only TWELVE minutes?!?"

And here I thought *prepares to duck a hail of thrown shoes* I was the only person who actually liked this film.
